Who Should Attend
Participation in the Emerging Leaders Program is open for all ophthalmologists in their first 10 years of their career. Applications will be reviewed by Johnson & Johnson Vision and Course Chairs, with a maximum of 15 participants selected.
The program is a two year commitment, requiring attendance at four events. All travel and accommodation expenses are provided as part of your program participation.
The 8 day program will be divided into four modules, each focusing on a key area of personal and professional growth.
Preparing and empowering you to engage in the larger ophthalmic research community.
This session is focused on the most effective way to design and conduct clinical research.
Tools will be provided for clinicians working in academic and community/private environments.
The sessions include efficient techniques and strategies for:
- Staying current on existing research and evidence
- Reading journals efficiently
- Reviewing for journals
- Asking scientific questions related to gaps in evidence
- Developing research
- Constructing protocols
- Obtaining ethics approval (IRB submission)
- Recruiting patients
- Analyzing data
- Handling reviewer's comments
- Presenting research
- Publishing results
Building key relationships to propel your career.
Exploring the broader landscape of ophthalmology, this session will focus on the challenges, opportunities, and drivers of success or failure among potential partners. Discussions and instruction will highlight strategies to accelerate collaboration, potential roles within partnerships, and opportunities to enhance synergies between partners.
